Since its foundation in 2014, the Beauty Cluster has become the largest Spanish cluster for cosmetics, perfumery, and personal care. The Beauty Cluster is a private association with over 230 companies and 3,000 professionals participating in around a hundred annual initiatives focused on innovation, internationalisation, training, networking, and digital transformation. The association works with dynamism, generosity, integrity, and transparency to promote collaboration and enhance the sustainable development and competitiveness of the beauty sector’s value chain. The Beauty Cluster, the world’s only Gold Label accredited beauty cluster, is also the founder of the first business training entity specialising in beauty, the Beauty Business School. The AITEX research and innovation centre concentrates on applied research, technological innovation, advanced technical laboratory services, certifications, and technical training for companies. With over 37 years as a benchmark textile technology centre in Spain and Europe, it has recently expanded its focus to include the Spanish cosmetics sector. AITEX offers a comprehensive service to the cosmetics industry, covering laboratories for product characterization, quality control, and certification in accordance with international norms and standards. Additionally, AITEX conducts applied research projects to develop innovative products with added value. The company also provides national legislative advice and export guides. Currently, the centre is working on projects that cover the entire value chain, from the search for new active ingredients to the study and development of new formulations. The R&D department is constantly expanding and adapting to market needs, generating new solutions based on the following research areas: Efficacy studies to support the claims of new cosmetic products and ingredients. Formulation and stabilisation of natural active ingredients to replace the agents responsible for the generation of microplastics. Extraction of active compounds from organic and/or agri-food waste.
